Art
Teacher of the Year
Wayne Bell
Saluda High School
Wayne
Bell was born in Union S.C and hunting and fishing
has always been a part of his life. Thanks to
his Dad ,Grand Dad and his older brother, Bell
always had people to help him foster his care of our
hunting and fishing heritage. I can remember eating
a Little Debbie snack cake when I was small and
wanted to throw it on the ground after a hunting
trip with my grand daddy and he told me that is not
the way we found it. My brother Tommy would
not let me throw old fishing line out of the boat
and told me the reasons why?'
Teaching
art at Saluda High School and now Saluda Middle
School, Bell always tries to pass on those valuable
lessons taught to him.' Our world is a show me now
society , fast pace and I feel that our young people
need the outdoors to help them slow down and enjoy
those things God has so beautifully provided.
Hunting and fishing should be an escape from our
hectic schedules.' Showing a young person how to
hunt and fish is something they can enjoy their
entire life. Protecting and taking care of
those habitats are important for my three boys and
the children I teach so that they can enjoy and
teach their own children about.
Coach
Bell has been involved now for 5 years in the
Jr.Duck Stamp and the S.C. Reel Kids Art contest.
'Our students look forward to these projects every
year and our DNR people do an outstanding job of
supporting our students and teachers.' |
